We are packing it in!

Well….we are officially counting the hours now and not the days.  Two & a half more sleeps until the 19 of us depart on our journey to Swaziland.  We spent the evening packing all of the supplies and….well we sure have a lot of them!  It is a remarkable thing that we are now approaching 300 children being sponsored by Riverwood.  That also means when we collect care packages….well….there is now 300 of them!!  Seriously, we feel so thrilled that each of these children are receiving such a special gift from their friends in Canada.  We have packed 25 bags full of care packages, schools supplies, games, medical supplies, and crafts.

Our team is full of anticipation and excitement and maybe even a bit of nervousness….we can already tell this crew will invest so much of themselves into this experience.  What a privilege it is to see people coming together to leverage their time, resources & energy for the orphans & widows of our world.  We believe God will do some amazing things in our lives and through them as we make ourselves available to him.

We truly feel honoured, humbled and privileged to be representatives of our church and everyone that is sponsoring a child.  We have committed ourselves to putting our full selves into this experience knowing that we are not just there as individuals but as the faces of the hundreds of people back home.

So….a few more hours of sleep….a few long flights….and we can’t wait to step our feet onto the dusty roads of Swaziland.  Until then…there is still much to do.  We’ll talk soon!

  8. Hey (Heh) team 😉 I know you just left and have sooo much ahead of you but I just wanted to wish you all an uneventful (in a good way) trip to Swaziland and hope you have fun bonding on the way there. I will be in prayer for you over the next couple of weeks. Jon and Carolyn, I didn’t get to say bye at the airport but, all the best. You are a dynamic duo and I know you will lead well as always. Adam, now that you are actually gone, I’m even more excited for you 🙂 I can’t believe you actually went without me. ha ha. Remember to take it all in and give Busi and Benele and all the kids big hugs for me. Don’t worry, they won’t be scared of you. Well….the children are complaining about what’s for dinner, so it’s time to go!

  9. Sawubona Team! I am so excited and expectant of how God is going to work in your lives and work through you in the lives of our precious Swazi children. I’m praying that you have safe travels and that no one gets lost in a tower for hours… hahaha. As you take some deep breaths and almost fall asleep in the team room after traveling for so long, prepare to take in every moment! These days will go faster than you want them to, and they will most definitely leave you changed. Your church is behind you, and I’m proud that you are representing us with our special friends. Give my little guy at Bhobokazi a big hug and tell him Zach loves him very much. Hambe Kahle!
