On our final day at Enaleni….after all the work was done….and after we had said our last goodbye’s to the children and watched them all carry their packages down that gravel road….we gathered together for one final moment. We wanted to do something special with the new church that we watched going up at Enaleni….and we wanted to have a moment to let Pastor Peter and Precious know that we at Riverwood were behind them…praying for them…and cheering them on.
So, we had all prepared a paper that had on it a verse we
wanted to share with them and / or a blessing we had written out for the Enaleni church and their new building. Then during our final moment there, we had a chance to pray with Pastor Peter and Precious….
and then in our own moment place the verse / blessing into the unfinished walls of the church. As they finish the church and complete the walls, the church will be littered with these blessings from their friends at Riverwood.
Precious said something very meaningful…she said, “now this church will have two foundations.” How true that is for them….they have the foundation that we were there building upon….but they will have an even richer and more important foundation…one that is built on God’s provision and God’s blessing.
Here are the statements that our team wrote and placed into the church walls:
Abba Father, than you for bringing us here to catch a glimpse of your greater plan. Reveal to us as much as as you dare as the hope and love that we feel is minor as compared to the hope and love that is brewing here in Enaleni. May you your light start an avalanche of love to be felt throughout the kingdom of heaven.
We are so thankful for the opportunity to do your work here and plan for the next project that you prepare for us; together with the church of Enaleni.
“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Eph 2:10 – GINO
“The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail” Isa 58:11
Father God, you know what you have planned for Enaleni and we praise you for all you’ve done here so far. Your people here have started to hope for today and for tomorrow. Please continue to build them up Father, strengthen them, provide for them and let them share what you’ve done for them with others, so that your love and the hope you give is like a flood, not only for Enaleni but for all the people in this community and beyond. Allow this beautiful church building to be a safe place that shines light even in the darkest shadows. Father, we trust you, we love you and we praise you for all the work you are doing here and know that you will continue to guide it and have it all come to fruition according to your will. Thank you Father for your faithfulness. – SANDRA
Verse for the church wall. Ephesians 3: 20 -21
Now Glory be to God! By his might power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope. My he be given glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever through endless ages. Amen.
This is my prayer for this church. That it will see God do things beyond anything we could ever hope or imagine for I am sure that God who began the good work will continue it until it is finished on that day when Christ comes back again. – ANNE
1 Tim 4:12
“Don’t anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.
I chose this verse to help further the connection with Riverwood and Enaleni. This is a verse that the Epic students had as a theme for a while, but as I pondered it more I feel like it was meant to be for all of us.
You are a young church, and are teaching the children that come to this carepoint, and church, what Paul is talking to Timothy about. You are showing your community by example what church really should be. You have welcomed us here with a love that we have never seen before. Your examples of faith, your lives, and your worship all go with this. You are teaching your children how to live in purity from abuse, and within the loving arms of God.
May God continue to richly bless you all.
With much love – AMY
Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 – Two are better than one because they have a good return for their work. If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also if two lie down together they will keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. Three are even better. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
Pilippians 1:3-6 – I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. – LESLEY
Ephesians 4:1, 3-5 – As a prisoner for the Lord, then I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received… Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit just as you were called to one hope when you were called. One Lord, one faith, one baptism.
May you continue to grow in the love you have for one another. Love, – BRENDA
1 Thessalonians 1:2-3 – We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers. We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. – CAROLYN
Philippians 1:3-6 – Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. Whenever I pray, I make my requests for all of you with joy, for you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now. And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. – NATALIE
Philippians 4:12-13 – I know how to live with almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. – JOELLE
Psalm 23 – The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.
Those were the first verses that I ever learned and they have been a rock in my live.

Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”
“Dear Lord, please bless this church as it’s built and when it opens its doors. Let it be a beacon of light to everyone worshiping in it and everyone around it. Let it show the hope that these precious people have and help it draw people in. Amen” – BREANNE
1 Corinthians 3:9-11 – For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building. Because of God’s grace to me, I have laid the foundation like an expert builder. Now others are building on it. But whoever is building on this foundation must be very careful. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have – Jesus Christ.
Thank you for the privilege of helping build your church. Love – JASON RYAN (Sibusisu)
Matthew 5:13-16 (from message at Enaleni church)
“You are like light for the whole world. A city built on top of a hill cannot be hidden, and no one would light a lamp and put it under a clay pot. A lamp is placed on a lampstand, where it can give light to everyone in the house. Make your light shine, so that others will see the good that you do and will praise your Father in heaven.”
To our dear Enaleni church. Our hearts forever have you imprinted on them. We continue to try to give you our very best….our generosity…our friendship…our support…our encouragement…our servant hands…and above all our hearts of love that God has given. I am struck with the reality today that even in giving all of these things in their fullness, we still will have been given such a greater gift in return. Enaleni church, what you have given to Riverwood and what you have given to me is a gift that cannot be put into words. You have changed us to the very core. We love you. – JON
But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. – DAVE
To Pastor Peter, Precious and Enaleni Church,
I am so happy I got to meet you in person. I love you and will be praying for you.
“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” – LEEANN
This experience here in swaziland has again encouraged me so incredibly much. I didnt realize i could love so much, so quickly, for so many people in such a short time. This is my second time to swaziland and Im so in love with this country and the work God is doing here. Ive seen nothing but hard work, humility and hospitality from everybody in this place. My prayer is that hope would continue to build and that hope would turn into prosperity in the physical but more importantly, in the spiritual.
I was encouraged to hear that you are believing for great things from God the next time we come to your church so i want to leave you with a few verses.
Acts 2:17-19 “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke.”
God Bless – DOUG
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
