  4. Those pictures are fun!!! Looks like an awesome party! I love that the kids have Canadian flags! Thats really cool. One of the pictures is of Tandy, who I met last year at Enaleni!!! She is still as cute as ever!

Kelly, just wanted to let you know that I have shopped through your closet this weekend and will be borrowing some clothes while you’re away. Hope you dont mind!!!

    Love you!

  5. Reading your entries every day has brought back so many memories from last year. Even though I don’t know most of you, it’s amazing how I can feel so connected to you through shared experiences in some place halfway around the world. God’s ways are so amazing!

I don’t know about you guys, but I was reaching the end of my natural energy reserves at about this time of the trip last year. If that’s you, I encourage you to keep pushing hard; our Lord is faithful and will pour back into you all that you give. You have the love and prayers of both your church homes (Riverwood and Enaleni) carrying you before the throne.

    In Christ,

  6. I am so blessed with all the pictures and reports of this trip. Jesus loves kids and so do we. Gino, I know this will change your life – Kidz Zone is ready for you to come back and share with us.
Great job all you guys. You represent our church and I could not be prouder to be a part of this. The picture of the adult and childs hand is so telling. I would love to have this picture for my home.

  7. All the smiles on the kids faces brought tears to my eyes! They are having so much fun just like kids should be.

I saw a picture of our sponsor child and he looks so happy. LeeAnn try and get more for me if you can.

  12. Hey Scott:
The pictures and blogs are STUPENDOUS!
But I haven’t seen too many pictures of you.
I’m pretty sure it’s you standing behind the little boy with the baseball bat??
I’d love to see a picture of you giving one of your famous hugs to one of those adorable children!!! Could someone please try to capture that Kodak moment???
I can’t (and don’t want to) stop thinking of all of you and the experiences that you’re having. We’ll continue to pray for good health and safety for all of the team!
    Love, Aunt Val

  13. Hey guys, sorry your internet is a little spotty but it sounds like you are having an awesome adventure. I love the photos. Each one takes me back there like it was yesterday. Since we couldn’t get the Skype to work today for the church service I spoke on behalf of your group as to what it is like to be over in Enaleni. Hope I did you all justice! Looking forward to seeing you back here as we can discuss the going ons of Swaziland. Keep up the good work. Pour out every single ounce of energy that you have for the people of Swaziland. I know you miss people here and that is normal, but I guarantee a week from now you will wish that you had one more day in Swazi. Make the most of the time you have left! Keep playing with kids. Keep building the church! 1 Chronicles 28:20

  14. Looks like your having at great time. Looks like the children are enjoying you being there. Keep up the great work. Hope to be where you are some day. I’ll keep praying for all of you and have a great rest of the trip and a safe trip home.

  15. Hey Anne,

Are you the photographer? Haven’t seen lots of pictures with you in them. It’s been great to hear about what you guys are making a difference in the lives of the kids. Keep on keeping on! God bless,

  16. Scott at riverwood, did do an excellent job…. his voice broke a few times, as I’m sure yours will do when you are telling us of this adventure………. may God fill you up to overflowing with HIS neverending energy and boundless grace and crazy laughter that will have you rotgrassl (rolling on the grass laughing) which hopefully has already happened a few times…….. hey scott ballentine…. c’mon – you ALWAYS have touched you so much that you can’t find your words…. all the more reason to have someone interpet for you and type things down 🙂 hey – romans 8:26 – God’s spirit speaks for us when we don’t have words… (if the Spirit is nudging you to write… write whatever’s on your heart….. be our preacher, man!) to all of you……. as has been said so many times already….. May God water you deeply…. plunge into HIS rest late tonight and trust HIM for the energy for the day……. and if He is leading you to support the local economy by consuming COKE, so be it! 🙂

  17. Great job team, you’re doing an awesome job building the church and relationships! Keep up the good work for remaining few days.

Any pictures of the garden and orchard for the oh-niners?

  18. Hey Team,
I just started to go though the blogs with all your thoughts and comments. What I’m imagining right now about what you guys are experiencing is probably not even close to reality. It sure must be an eye opener in many ways.
You are a bunch of wonderful people doing this for all these children. Yvonne & I pray for all of you almost every evening. Thank you so much for the many incredible pictures. It’s so much fun to look at them.
Gino, your video says it all. This trip must have a great impact on everyone of you.
We can’t wait to hear your stories!
May God bless your good works and give you a safe trip home.

  19. To LeeAnn:

Hi love, I am glad to see you continue to have such amazing experiences! The girls and I both miss you and we are all looking forward to seeing you this Friday. Stay strong love, I am “HARD CORE” proud of you and I will continue to pray for all of you! Be safe sweets, I love you and can’t wait to see you this Friday.

By the way, my mom’s surgery went really well with no complications and she should be out shortly after you get home.

All the best to the whole team and I will be praying that God will show all of you how you can take this amazing experience and apply it to your everyday lives when you return and use it for the betterment of His Kingdom! Be safe everyone and LeeAnn, I love you (oh wait already said that).

    All the best,

  20. Wow…wow…wow…Swazi Team the time you are having there sounds…awesome…the pics of the kids are great especially waving the Canada flags…sounds like you guys are busy, busy, busy.

Kelly…hope you’re having a meaningful time…I’m sure you are. I can’t wait to hear your take on the church service. So,,,were you one of the ones dancing?,,,that I gotta see…hope there is a pic of that or better yet a video! Who needs rhythm when you’re filled with the Spirit right? Enjoy the last couple of days with the people at both care points. Hope you meet our sponsor kids. Give a hug from us if you do.

P.S. To the whole team…I trust in all the activity and hard work the love and light of Jesus is shining through each one of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Sure wish I was there.

  21. Hey Shel (mfs), I hope everything is going good & everyone is well. Keep up the great work. Get home safe…Miss ya LYFB, Darren

  22. These pictures are incredible…Doug, your photography is great! But there must be another photographer since I have been seeing you in some pictures as well. Thank goodness!
So many smiling little faces…they are going to be so sad when you all leave, and thats whats making me sad just thinking about that. They must feel like they are in another world when the team is there giving them this amount of love and attention. I pray that this will be life transforming for all of them and they will never forget the love that shone through you all in years and years to come.
    Press on…its almost home time.
    Love: Mom

  23. To Amy, Dale and Nat,
Your small group has been preparing the way for you through prayer and petition, to continue to serve and love in your final days in Swazi. And on a side note, do people in Swaziland call their country Swazi or Swaziland?
Grace and Peace cover you today. Can’t wait to hear from each of you over a cup of coffee and dessert.

  24. Hello all,

Wow what an awesome thing you are doing. God is so pleased with you. Know that you are loved and that you are being prayed for. I would like to leave you with this prayer.

    St. Patrick’s Breastplate

    I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through the belief in the threeness,
    Through confession of the oneness
    Of the Creator of Creation.

    I arise today
Through the strength of Christ’s birth with his baptism,
Through the strength of his crucifixion with his burial,
Through the strength of his resurrection with his ascension,
Through the strength of his descent for the judgment of Doom.

    I arise today
Through the strength of the love of Cherubim,
    In obedience of angels,
    In the service of archangels,
In hope of resurrection to meet with reward,
    In prayers of patriarchs,
    In predictions of prophets,
    In preaching of apostles,
    In faith of confessors,
    In innocence of holy virgins,
    In deeds of righteous men.

    I arise today
    Through the strength of heaven:
    Light of sun,
    Radiance of moon,
    Splendor of fire,
    Speed of lightning,
    Swiftness of wind,
    Depth of sea,
    Stability of earth,
    Firmness of rock.

    I arise today
Through God’s strength to pilot me:
    God’s might to uphold me,
    God’s wisdom to guide me,
God’s eye to look before me,
    God’s ear to hear me,
God’s word to speak for me,
    God’s hand to guard me,
God’s way to lie before me,
    God’s shield to protect me,
    God’s host to save me
    From snares of devils,
    From temptations of vices,
From everyone who shall wish me ill,
    Afar and anear,
    Alone and in multitude.

I summon today all these powers between me and those evils,
Against every cruel merciless power that may oppress my body and soul,
    Against incantations of false prophets,
    Against black laws of pagandom
    Against false laws of heretics,
    Against the craft of idolatry,
Against spells of witches and smiths and wizards,
Against every knowledge that corrupts man’s body and soul.

    Christ to shield me today
    Against poison, against burning,
    Against drowning, against wounding,
So that there may come to me abundance of reward.
Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.

    I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
    Through belief in the threeness,
    Through confession of the oneness,
    Of the Creator of Creation

    In God’s Grace

    In God’s Grace,
I Travel Through This Life Conquering My Fears,
    Knowing Full Well,
    He Is Always Near.

    In God’s Grace,
    Trials And Tribulations Shall Arrive,
    But For Christ’s Salvation,
    I Will Always Be Alive.

    In God’s Grace,
    I Shall Awake Each Morn,
    Be Thankful For Life’s Treasures,
    That He Has Adorned.

    In God’s Grace,
    Friendships Will Be Formed,
    Some Shall Depart,
But His Will Weather Any Storm.

    In God’s Grace,
I Am Humbled By His Word,
    The Knowledge He Offers,
For Us Not To Be Obscure.

    In God’s Grace,
Life’s Rewards And Sorrows I Will Face,
Is But A Flicker Of Light,
    Compared To His Heavenly Place.

    In God’s Grace,
    I Am Never Alone,
    To Face His Challenges,
For Eternal Salvation Is My Home.

    In God’s Grace,
He Has Forgiven Me Of Sin,
    Has Set My Life’s Course,
    To Live Solely For Him.

    In God’s Grace,
He Has Blessed Me With Child,
    Whom I Love Completely,
My Cup Runneth Over, He Has Filled.

    In God’s Grace,
    I Harbour No Hate,
    Only Peace, Goodwill, and Love,
    I Will Celebrate.

    In God’s Grace,
We Are Blessed With Family And Friends,
    That Celebrate Our Lives,
As He Will When It Ends.

In God’s Grace…I Am At Peace.

  33. Hey everyone! Just looked at the blog and my heart is happy and my eyes are a little teary (due to joy of course). It’s so great what you guys are doing and I am sure you are getting a lot in return too!
Seeing your photos and reading your stories makes me wish I was with you guys. I am jealous of the life-changing experiences you will have from this amazing adventure. I guess I will have to stick with my memories from Sirva-Mexico!
Thanks for taking this time to service and share God’s love. I appreciate it and am thankful our church is involved in other communities around the world.
    Riverwooders rock!!!

    Love, love, love,

    Carolina (aka Carolyn Kolm)

  34. Bless you all for pouring your love into the people of Swaziland!

Shelley, stop hiding from the camera (and being scared of footballs!).

    love from Team Willms
Dana, Andrew, Eva, Micah & Joshua

  35. Calling this a missions trip is just wrong – you are having waaay too much fun! Glad that you are sharing the JOY of the Lord and receiving so much back. His resources are infinite and praying that you will feel as though you have enough to give right to the last moment that you are with the kids and adults you are there to serve. And that you will be able to refresh as you decompress as you return to us. This is going to be the hard part of the trip. Praying for you as you pack your bags and head home.

  36. Wow, those beautiful smiling faces, how encouraging. They possess such faith and love. Know that you are true ambassadors of Riverwood and I am proud of each one of you. God bless you all. Give the kids a BIIIIG HUG from me!!

    Abundent Blessings,

  37. Hey there Jon, Carolyn and fabulous team.
Wow…what a read! The blog, the comments and the gorgeous pictures. You have communicated in a way that makes us feel so connected to you all. And as I look at the beautiful faces of the kids and your pretty good looking mugs, too : ) ….one word springs to mind and that’s JOY! All the kids and each of you have joy written all over your faces. And then I thought of Isaiah 55 and one verse in particular…verse 12 ‘You will go out with joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and the hills will burst into song before you and all the trees of the field will clap their hands’. You are clearly serving the people of Enelani and Bhobhokazi with joy and furthering God’s Kingdom in so many beautiful ways. We will keep praying for you as you wrap up these last couple of days with them…it’ll be so hard to say goodbye.
I think that Gino (and by the way your video was so moving) had mentioned at the start that Brenda was the ‘mom’ for the team? How perfect. If I didn’t already have a good mom and was starting over somehow…I would certainly want Brenda to be my mom! (Hey I’m just very happy to be a friend : ) And Jon we had St. Patty’s Day at Alpha and thought of you and missed you! To be sure there was some green, some Irish humour and blessings and my Irish buddy Deb and I made cupcakes in honour of the day. Not too exciting but hey we had to mark the day somehow! Ron, had a bit of a visit with your Sara on Sunday and I know she’ll be so glad to have you home.
Blessings to you all as you head into the home stretch of your Swazi adventure. Just know how very proud we McNabbs are of you all!

  38. My children and I just spent a few minutes exploring your photos and adventures. They were quite concerned to hear that some one got eaten by a hippo! The joy you are all experiencing is tangible even to us back here at home. Thank you for the love you are sharing with all of the children and adults. May you all be joined together in love as one family, and may you continue to be transformed through His mighty touch.

Blessings to you, Krista Joshua 6 Gracie 4

  39. Way to go, church! Thanks for being an extension of us back in Winnipeg as you share your blood, sweat, tears, and most importantly, your hearts. Shell, I miss my wingwoman! I can’t wait to hear all of the wonderful stories when you get back. Take care, everyone, and know that you are prayed for and that your return is eagerly anticipated!
    🙂 Gina

  40. Hi Again
I am always so excited to read your blogs and live vicariously through your experiences. I am so proud of you all for doing what you are doing for God and the people of Swaziland. You are being God’s hands and feet. How exciting, and I am blessed to be part of a family that will do this. Looking forward to more stories, and pictures. Dave your small group is proud of you, praying for you and cheering you on. If you see Lindelwa Twfwala (not sure on the spelling). give her a big hug from our family and if you have a picture of her we would love that, to see how she is growing!! Stephanie also has a sponser child her name is Hlengiwe Mavuso, Give her a big hug too. I’m sure she would love an updated picture too. I know it is short notice. If you get a chance that would be great. Keep up the great work and may God bless the works of your hands and give you energy for the last few days there with the beautiful people of Swaziland. Blessings Cam and Tanis
